I have a pretty hard and fast rule when it comes to the jewelry I make for sale: no acrylics!
But when it comes to making things for myself, I break the rules.
Take the necklace I made myself today - it has very big acrylic beads but they are so interesting and colorful, I just couldn't resist them.
My friend Keli and I put together a stash of beads for a local group that helps mentally challenged folks and when I looked through Keli's stash, there were these creamy, beautiful turquoise beads that kept saying, "Keep me! Keep me!" So I did.
And today, I sat at the beadboard and pulled together a few firepolished Czech glass rondelles, some mother of pearl shell bits, and various glass beads and made this necklace. Of course, I couldn't leave it at that. It wasn't finished just strung up that way. No, I had to add my beloved delica beads, of course. But this time I added fringe beads as well.
I'm pretty pleased with the results.

Brava! It's good to give yourself gifts!
